Lyme

Lyme is an infection caused by bacteria from the Borrelia burgdorferi-complex and is transmitted by ticks. In horses, the symptoms can vary and complaints are not always specific to Lyme.

Possible warning signs include, for example:

  • Lameness or stiffness
  • Muscle tenderness
  • Fatigue or lethargy
  • Reduced appetite or loss of fitness
  • Sensitivity when touching or brushing
  • Changes in behaviour or performance

These symptoms can have many different causes. If Lyme disease is suspected, it is therefore important to consult a vet for examination and, if necessary, treatment.

What can Unique B30 add?

Unique B30 Health Booster does not treat Lyme disease. However, a horse can use extra nutritional support during or after a period of illness, for example when energy, condition and immunity have been under pressure.

B30 is used as a short course of 5–10 days a month given and contains a wide combination of nutrients, including:

  • Vitamin C and E for antioxidant support
  • B vitamins that play a role in normal energy-yielding metabolism
  • Essential amino acids, including lysine, leucine, valine, threonine and isoleucine
  • Minerals and trace elements, including iron, copper, zinc, manganese and selenium
  • Magnesium as an essential mineral with a role in, amongst other things, normal muscle function
  • Grape extract as a source of plant-based antioxidants

This allows B30 to provide broad nutritional support during periods when the body could use a little extra attention.

In the case of Lyme disease, veterinary treatment is paramount. B30 can additionally be used to nutritionally support the horse during a period of stress and recovery.
