Summer eczema

Summer eczema (also called tail and mane eczema) is an allergic skin reaction in horses caused by the saliva of midges (Culicoides). It occurs mainly in the warmer months and can lead to intense itching, rubbing, skin irritation and damage to mane, tail or belly. Constant scouring often causes additional skin stress and distress.
