Hoof inflammation (laminitis) is a serious and painful condition in which the connection between the hoof wall and the hoof bone is damaged. Horses can become lame, walk with sensitivity, develop hot hooves, or adopt an abnormal posture as a result.
Hoof inflammation is often associated with an impaired insulin metabolism, for example in EMS or PPID (Cushing). Other factors may also play a role. In the event of a suspicion of hoof inflammation, evaluation by a veterinarian is necessary.
